S&ME brings a wide range of innovative design approaches to all our design work to satisfy client and end user needs and expectations. When evaluating design options, we consider the whole-life value of the facility in order to maximize value and meet a wide range of user needs.  Factors that affect the longer term costs of a facility, such as maintainability, useful service life, and sustainability/resource consumption are all taken into account. We also incorporate sustainable designs and low impact development strategies that contribute positively to the environment to the benefit of the surrounding community.

Our approach to creating realistic and implementable sustainable design and engineering solutions is based on the fact that the cost of maintenance and operation are inherently reduced when resources are used more efficiently. We work with our clients to create tailored mitigation strategies for building, transportation, waste, water, green infrastructure, land use, and other factors reflecting local context as well as economic, political and technical feasibility to create solutions that offer the greatest cost-benefit ratio for their project. Services include:

  • Lower CO2 Emissions, Reduced Energy Consumption
  • Lower Operation and Maintenance Costs
  • Energy Efficiency Plans
  • Low-Impact Development Infrastructure Solutions
  • Building and Construction Guidelines for Methods and Materials
