Brownfields Redevelopment
Perspective and experience makes S&ME different
Since the inception of Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Brownfields and Land Redevelopment Program in 1995, S&ME has successfully guided communities through Brownfields redevelopment by providing site assessment, planning, risk evaluation, and project implementation.
We recognize that brownfield redevelopment involves many players. That’s why we work alongside stakeholders, contractors, environmental attorneys, regulators, funding agencies, realtors, developers, and others to make a redevelopment project successful. In addition to our brownfield environmental services, we have the in-house capability to aid in redevelopment and design of your site after cleanup is complete.

Proven Track Record
Communities benefit from S&ME’s regional expertise and recognition, as well as our local knowledge and focus. We have worked on a variety of industrial, commercial, municipal, and transportation projects.
We understand that every site is unique and that there are multiple options for future use to be considered. We have firsthand experience in negotiating brownfields agreements with regulatory agencies and in obtaining funding through state and federal grant programs. Our goal is to assist our clients in turning a community concern into a community asset. We have prepared multiple grant applications for funds available through the EPA’s Brownfields Grant Program, resulting in millions of dollars in assessment and clean-up grant funds to local governments and non-profits.
These funds have allowed the grant recipients to take the initial steps towards redevelopment of blighted properties in their communities. Even when grant funds are not available, S&ME has provided innovative, cost-effective assessment and regulatory negotiation services to help communities navigate their brownfield opportunities.
