S&ME performed natural resources services for the Greenville County Pipeline project in South Carolina.  This 10-mile natural gas pipeline extends from U.S. Highway 25 to U.S. Highway 29 in Greenville County, South Carolina.

S&ME’s natural resources services included waters of the U.S. delineation, stream assessments, protected species assessment, and Section 401/404 permitting. Our services also included Global Positioning Systems (GPS) data collection, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping, informal Section 7 consultation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), and coordination with other permitting and commenting agencies.

S&ME performed delineation according to guidelines set forth by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).  Stream assessments were performed and jurisdictional boundaries were demarcated using sequentially numbered surveyors flagging.

During the course of fieldwork, S&ME identified a population of the federally listed protected bunched arrowhead.  To avoid impacts to this population, S&ME coordinated with the USFWS and Piedmont Natural Gas to develop an alternative alignment to avoid potential impacts to this species.

S&ME is currently assembling permit applications and coordinating closely with the USACE and S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control to obtain Section 404/401 permits.
