Meharry Medical College Cal Turner Family Center for Student Education

S&ME provided engineering for the 82,000 SF, three-story building with underground parking garage for 50-75 cars. The building contains student center, police offices, administrative offices and banquet hall. Design included the layout grading, ADA access, services access, utilities, drainage included detention water quality, using pervious pavement and green roof to help address water quality issues. Site work involved grading, drainage, site layout and utilities. The building takes up nearly all of the site and the site and has about 12 feet of fall across it. Also incorporated LEED design principles. Additionally, services included coordination with City site approvals, reworking sidewalks and curbs in right-of-way, platting the property to combine parcels and dedicate right-of-way, and coordinating City process to abandon easements running through the site.
