Tennessee State Museum

The location for the new Tennessee State Museum is the Bicentennial Mall State Park near the State Capitol. The 50-foot, single-story facility will feature rotating artistic, cultural, and historical themes and exhibits. The design will endure to the next century, constructed with materials including limestone, granite, marble, and bronze.

As a subconsultant to the Project Architect, EOA Architects, S&ME is responsible for providing land surveying, due diligence, and civil engineering services. We performed a geotechnical exploration for the development including a site assessment, test borings, lab testing, reporting, and foundation recommendations. S&ME was also tasked with providing detailed design for the new parking lot and plaza expansion connecting to the Nashville Farmers Market. Civil Engineering services include schematic design and site plan; sanitary sewer relocation and easement abandonment; stormwater design and permitting; agency coordination and permitting; and construction administration.

S&ME provided ALTA/ ASCM Land Title and Topographic Surveys for over 22 acres at the Bicentennial State Park and Farmer Market Center. Services included detail underground utility locations requiring coordination with public utility agencies and private underground locator firms. An interesting element of the scope included providing the location of the flag pole on top of the State Capitol building so the new museum hallway could be aligned to the flag pole.
