S&ME and ODOT District 4 Win 2020 ODOT/ACEC Partnering Award for Excellence in Highway Design

Our Geotechnical team worked with ODOT District 4 to correct drainage and flooding issues by raising the roadway profile over a peat bowl containing soft and compressible soils to a depth of 60 feet in Streetsboro, OH. We are excited that in partnership with ODOT District 4, we are proud recipients of the 2020 ODOT/ACEC Partnering Award for Excellence in Highway Design for this project. The roadway is now constructed with steepened side slopes to reduce imported fill and built on a higher elevation to accommodate future settlement. Additionally, fencing and wildlife crossings were incorporated in the design to protect the threatened spotted turtle and eastern massasauga rattlesnake. We are grateful to have been a part of this project to improve travel and safety for both humans and our wildlife friends in Streetsboro.
