We’re excited to announce that Matthew Montz has joined S&ME as our new Nuclear Practice Lead, bringing three decades of experience in the energy sector and a deep background in nuclear and environmental strategy, licensing, and program leadership.
Matthew will guide S&ME’s growing nuclear market strategy, expanding our environmental and NEPA licensing capabilities and supporting multidisciplinary project delivery across the company.
Throughout his 30-year career, Matthew has managed complex environmental programs with a specialized focus on nuclear siting, permitting, licensing, and construction. His extensive experience includes more than 15 years of environmental project management and close collaboration with state and federal regulatory agencies, including the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
His project portfolio spans major utilities and nuclear facilities across the country, including:
- Subsequent License Renewal Environmental Reports for AEP’s Cook Nuclear Plant, Duke Energy’s Robinson and Brunswick Plants, NPPD’s Cooper Nuclear Station, and Southern Nuclear’s Plant Farley
- Environmental and licensing support for PG&E’s Diablo Canyon License Renewal
- Contributions to TVA’s Clinch River small modular reactor Construction Permit Application
- New plant siting and environmental assessment support for Southern Company
- Comprehensive permitting work for Plant Vogtle Units 3 & 4, one of the most significant nuclear construction projects in the U.S.
Matthew joins S&ME at an exciting time as demand for nuclear energy expertise expands nationwide. His leadership will accelerate our efforts to broaden our nuclear services beyond geotechnical capabilities, advancing our environmental permitting, NEPA licensing, and regulatory support offerings.
