Fort Knox RCI

Working as a subconsultant for Lend Lease, S&ME professionals provided civil engineering and land surveying services to all housing areas at the Fort Knox military base under the federal program, Residential Communities Initiative (RCI). The project involves the construction and renovation of approximately 2,500 existing housing units. The project also includes construction of several ancillary facilities and amenities. Services included topographical and GPS survey, utility, roadway, and streetscape design. Additional services included stormwater quality and detention design and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) preparation. The multi-phase project also included completion of Notice of Intent (NOI) applications and National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) compliance. The housing renovations involve Traditional Neighborhood Development (TND) principles that emphasize neighborly interaction, outdoor pedestrian activities and attractive, high quality homes.
