Thrive Together in Atlanta: Our Culture
At S&ME Atlanta, we believe strong relationships create stronger teams, which is why we invest in opportunities that help employees thrive together. Our team collaborates through regional and local Town Hall meetings, mentorship opportunities, and community-building events. These activities help create an environment where employees can build lasting professional connections.
Giving back is part of how our Atlanta team connects with the local community.
From volunteer initiatives to mentoring the next generation of engineers, employees have opportunities to build relationships beyond the project site.
For instance, we opened our lab to the American Society of Civil Engineers – Georgia Section, offering a behind-the-scenes look at construction materials testing for professionals starting their careers.

“Watching new hires grow, develop their talents, take on new challenges, and build successful careers has been one of the most rewarding parts of the 20 years I’ve spent at S&ME. The team’s accomplishments are a reminder that one of the greatest privileges in any career is having the ability to give others an opportunity and encouraging them to reach their full potential,” says Office Principal Justin Dobson.

Engineering Services FAQ: What Our Atlanta Clients Ask Most
+ What is the geology of Northern Georgia and the Georgia Piedmont like for engineering projects?
Northern Georgia is part of the Georgia Piedmont, a region shaped by rolling hills, narrow valleys, and highly weathered rock. A key engineering factor in this landscape is how quickly the ground conditions change from soil to weathered rock. These materials may retain the structure of the original rock while behaving more like soil.
- For engineering projects, this can mean:
- Soil and rock conditions vary over short distances.
- Depth to rock or refusal can affect foundations and utilities.
- Drainage and perched groundwater may influence slope and earthwork performance.
- Site-specific geotechnical investigation helps guide foundation design, grading, pavement sections, and construction-phase testing.
+ What are some common environmental needs in Northern Georgia?
From industrial facilities to public-sector projects, our environmental experts bring science-based solutions that assess environmental conditions, monitor potential impacts, address contamination concerns, and navigate complex regulatory requirements. S&ME Atlanta’s environmental services include:
- Soil, Groundwater & Vapor Assessment
- Environmental Remediation & Compliance
- Cultural and Natural Resources & Permitting
- Real Estate Transaction Due Diligence
- Industrial Hygiene

These relationships help our teams stay current with industry expectations while building connections that support better project delivery.
Professional involvement may include:
