Meredith Keyes, CPA

Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Meredith oversees all strategic and tactical matters for S&ME as they relate to financial planning and forecasting, budget management, financial reporting, cash management, and treasury.  She has proven experience in leading organizations through financial downturns, as well as through rapid organic growth and growth by acquisition.  Additionally, she has prior experience as CFO of an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) company, so she understands the additional financial, operational, and cultural challenges that mature ESOPs face today.

Meredith’s broad range of experience brings a fresh perspective to S&ME’s financial and business operations.  With her diverse experience, she’s always looking around the corner on ways to improve the process and productivity – even from a happiness quotient standpoint.  Meredith’s unique ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams while forging collaboration and consensus has proven to be highly valuable for our constantly evolving firm.

Prior to joining S&ME, Meredith spent three years as CFO of North America for Chiltern International Inc, a global provider of contract research, where she was instrumental in growing and selling the business to Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings in 2017.  Before her experience in the life sciences industry, Meredith spent eight years as CFO for The Bobbitt Group, Inc., a regional design-build construction firm with in house architecture and engineering services.  Additionally, Meredith began her career in public accounting with Ernst & Young, LLP in Atlanta and Deloitte in Raleigh, NC.

Meredith is a North Carolina native and has lived in Raleigh since 2000.  She is actively engaged in her community, serving as the Treasurer and Board Member of the Frankie Lemmon School and Foundation since 2012.  She also spent many years as an active member of The Junior League of Raleigh and served as Treasurer in 2012.
