SOILS TESTING AND MONITORING

Specification Review for appropriate grading specifications for subsurface conditions.

Borrow Source Evaluation to evaluate the suitability of borrow materials (found on and/or off-site) for use as structural fill and backfill. This may include obtaining samples from the borrow source, completing laboratory tests, reviewing grading requirements and preparing test strips.

Site Stripping, Undercutting and Proofrolling Observation to document that organics and topsoil have been removed, that soft or unstable soil has been excavated or repaired.

Density Testing and Fill Placement Observation to document fill and backfill placement and compaction; may include field and laboratory testing.

Post-Construction Fill Assessment to evaluate strength, compressibility, and soil type. This may include in-place density tests in conjunction with lab testing; penetration resistance testing, such as standard penetration tests or hand penetrometer testing; test pits; and proofrolling.

S&ME provided soil testing and recommendations that reduced the impact on local wetlands on the Conway by-pass project.
