Cade Museum of Creativity + Invention
S&ME provided landscape architectural services for the $9 million Cade Museum in Gainesville Florida. The Cade Museum of Creativity & Invention is named for the late Robert Cade, inventor of Gatorade, and is dedicated to creating a Museum that is educational, interactive and collaborative with hands-on exhibits and workshops designed to inspire creativity and entrepreneurship.
The design concept was inspired by nature, the brain, and synaptic connections. These themes also inform the site design. The plan provides connections to other facilities within the Depot Park including the lakefront promenade, amphitheater, and regional trails. The site is part of a 32-acre Brownfield Redevelopment. The development features sustainable solutions including a green roof, rain gardens, native plantings and a stormwater fountain interpreted as part of the development of the museum.
