Camp Lejeune & Cherry Point PPV

S&ME professionals provided civil and environmental engineering design for multiple military housing areas under the DOD program, public/private venture (PPV). The scope of work includes renovation and new construction of over 3,400 homes. The design also includes streetscapes, neighborhood community amenities, utilities, and ancillary facilities. Services included developing construction documents for new neighborhoods. In addition, roadway improvements involved the addition of concrete curb and gutters, sidewalks.

Our team prepared multiple design and construction documents including Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs).  The design also included sediment / erosion control plans, stormwater permitting for coastal areas,  and utility collection and distribution systems. Finally, the project contained a component requiring compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966 and coordination with NHPA and local SHPO offices. Construction cost: $1 billion.

The Midway Park Neighborhood on Camp Lejeune Marine Base is the largest neighborhood in the state of North Carolina to be comprised of all LEED certified homes. Midway Park includes 537 new sustainable homes, all LEED certified and is the first LEED Silver Certified Neighborhood on a Marine Corps Base. The design utilized Traditional Neighborhood Development and sustainable design principles in order to meet the higher LEED standards.
