San Pedrito Container Yards

S&ME reviewed design plans and soil boring logs to prepare densification criteria for stone column construction to mitigate liquefaction and static settlement potential for rehabilitation of the two container yards.  Located on the southwest coast of Mexico, the Puerto Interior De San Pedrito project site has a high seismic hazard associated with the Pacific Ring of Fire and related seismic source zones.  Following preparation of design calculations, our team visited the project site multiple times during construction to assess the stone column construction and it effectiveness as measured by post-improvement soil test borings.  One site visit also included a day long technical presentation to the owner’s personnel as well as the Port Authority of Manzanillo personnel on design and construction quality control for stone columns, followed by a site visit to observe stone column construction.

Our quick response to design review and preparation of densification criteria aided the project owner in receiving approval for commencement of construction.  Our ability to speak Spanish greatly enhanced our client service on this project.
