This spring, our annual S&ME Technical Conference brought together nearly 45% of our employees for a fact-filled two days of detailed technical presentations, demonstrations, experience-sharing and informal exchanges. The results helped staff from eight states advance their knowledge and come to know each other better.

I take this quick look to the near past because of the thrust into the future this conference gave us.  A number of attendees were new employees formerly with QORE Property Sciences, which had just become our largest acquisition ever. This added strength in experience and skill sets harmonizes with and supplements S&ME’s already proven capacity to meet or surpass our clients’ objectives. We are ready to serve…and are serving…with technical and responsive excellence as the economy predictably moves toward recovery.

We serve from a position of strength.  Our Behavior-Based Safety initiative is reaping dramatic results, helping us achieve the statistically best safety year in S&ME history.  We’re productively providing a multitude of services to multiple markets. I feel humbled when I speak to groups of our employees, because I know we have brought together some of the best professional and support staff minds in our industry.  We’ve created a workforce of exceptional individuals who enthusiastically team together to bring value to clients, project partners, regulators, communities and each other.

We are pleased to be ready for the future…but we are far from content.  We aren’t standing still. For the first time, our board of directors will have the fresh perspective of a non-employee member. We’re acquiring new technologies important to those we serve.  We even help develop such technologies.  Best safety record? Award-winning service?  Great.  But we won’t rest on our laurels.  We’re focused on moving forward.
