Dredging and Beneficial Use of Dredged Material
S&ME understands the special considerations associated with dredging in the coastal zone. Our engineers and scientists are experienced in delineating borrow areas, and/or deepening channels to satisfy project requirements, while avoiding/minimizing adverse impacts to environmental resources. Our team specializes in data collection, agency coordination, sediment characterization of borrow and fill sites, site layouts for booster and pipeline routing, construction inspection, and contract management. This experience is routinely applied to dredging projects for navigation channels, beneficial use for marsh restoration (including mitigation sites), beach nourishment, and post-dredge management of placement areas. Our engineers are also experienced with training berm and containment dike construction, dewatering methods, decant weir configurations, and other means to manage and stabilize dredged material.
