Natural Resources Department Manager

S&ME is seeking a Natural Resources Department Manager who is interested in working with a dynamic and diverse group of professionals in our Charlotte, NC location.  Qualified candidates must have proficient verbal and written communication skills, strong work ethic, and posses the ability to work as a team player and be a leader.  Candidates must also have:

• 10 years minimum experience in natural resources studies (wetland delineation and jurisdictional determination, mitigation, protected species assessments, 404/401 permitting, EA/EIS preparation)
• Proven experience in management of a department or business group
• B.A. or B.S. degree in Biology / Ecology / Natural Resources or Civil Engineering or Soil Science
• Certification by a professional society or a state regulatory board is preferred
• Stream restoration design / implementation experience is preferred

Duties will include but are not limited to:

• Client marketing / business development;
• Manage personnel and recruiting / developing of staff;
• Establish and implement yearly business plan, achieve financial department goals, staff utilization, and accounts receivable;
• Oversee preparation of technical studies and documents including: waters of the U.S. delineation and jurisdictional determinations, wetland / stream mitigation, flora / fauna inventories, protected species assessments, CWA and state regulatory permits and approvals; 
• Work with regulatory agencies throughout duration of projects; and
• Act as technical lead in interacting with client on project details.
