Ardrey Kell High School, located in South Charlotte, opened in August 2006 to accommodate the growing Charlotte population in that area of the City. The high school was designed by LS3P Architects of Charlotte to accommodate a school population of 2000 students. According to its mission, Ardrey Kell High School is a student-centered community that implements a challenging curriculum leading to the development of creative and independent thinkers who have a strong sense of honor, respect, and service. The school offers a full roster of programs that include advanced placement courses, academically gifted classes, and advanced and regular courses in all subjects. The school is equipped with state-of-the-art athletic fields and music facilities and accommodates after-school clubs on campus.

Services provided for the project including a wide range of construction materials testing and inspection. Field service at the beginning of the project consisted of subgrade evaluation prior to fill placement. This involved evaluating the need for undercutting due to soft soil conditions and a shallow water table. Installation of a dewaterin system was installed as a result of the shallow water table. Once the site was dewatered to a stable elevation, undercutting could proceed.

Other services included typical construction evaluations such as foundation evaluations, reinforcing steel evaluations, concrete sampling and testing, precast wall panel evaluations, structural masonry inspections, structural steel evaluations, aggregate base course and asphalt testing.
