At S&ME, Billy Camp serves as an internal consultant to our geotechnical staff and frequently provides technical oversight on projects across the US and Latin America. Within the larger geo-professional community, Billy serves on the Geo-Institute’s (GI) Deep Foundations Committee, the PDCA Technical Committee, the DFI Ground Improvement Committee, and the ASCE Standards Committee on the Seismic Design of Piers and Wharves. Billy has authored 34 peer-reviewed technical papers and is a frequent speaker at G-I, PDCA, DFI and ADSC events. He is a Past-President of the Geo-Institute and a Diplomate in the Academy of Geo-Professionals. The University of Texas at Austin recognized Billy’s achievements and contributions to his professional community by inducting him to their Academy of Distinguished Alumni in the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering, a rare honor held by fewer than 150 in a community of 10,000 living alumni.
Billy completed a BS in civil engineering at University of Virginia and an MS in geotechnical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Since that time, he has worked as a geotechnical engineer in S&ME’s Charleston, South Carolina office. He is a registered professional engineer in South Carolina and Virginia and a recognized practice leader on soft ground, deep foundations, and seismic design issues in the Southeast.
