Two from S&ME are certified as soil scientists

Greensboro, NC - Two natural resources department staff members of S&ME, Inc. have earned certification as licensed soil scientists. They are Melanie L. McKinney, LSS, an ecologist and wetland specialist; and Jacob Presley, LSS, an agronomist and geographic information system specialist.

McKinney joined S&ME in 2004 with two years of previous experience. She holds a bachelor of science degree in natural resources with a concentration in soil and water systems from North Carolina State University. She is experienced in providing stream and wetland delineations, federal and state regulatory permitting services for sections of the Clean Water Act, monitoring of compensatory wetland mitigation and assessing protected species issues.

Presley joined S&ME in 2003 after gaining his bachelor of science degree in agronomy with a concentration in turfgrass management from North Carolina State University. Presley is experienced in golf course maintenance, soil/plant sampling, landscaping, testing and maintaining research plots. He specializes in developing on-site wastewater solutions.

S&ME is an 835-member firm that has operated an office in Greensboro for 33 years. It has 22 offices in seven southeastern states.
