S&ME expands Florida team with geotechnical and environmental professionals

Orlando, FL – S&ME, a Southeastern engineering, testing and environmental services firm has expanded its management team to include seasoned professionals in the environmental and geotechnical consulting fields.

The new branch manager is Moataz “Mo” Hassan, P.E. S&ME Regional Manager Sonny Chestnut said Hassan, or as he likes to be called “Mo,” is experienced in geotechnical and construction materials engineering and testing and will play a crucial role in building the branch’s staff in these fields.

Mo brings to S&ME’s Orlando operations 12 years of geotechnical project and staff management experience. He has served as construction services department manager and as senior geotechnical engineer for Nodarse & Associates in West Palm Beach, and as a senior project manager for Universal Engineering Sciences in Orlando. Mo has worked closely with both private clients and the public sector, including the Florida DOT.

Meanwhile, Chestnut said, Jeff Peters, P.G. will serve as Senior Geologist and focus on expanding S&ME’s environmental services offered from the Orlando branch. He has over 17 years experience in the Florida environmental marketplace working on projects with both private clients and the public sector, including the FDEP.

S&ME also gained significant experience with the addition of Maria Summerlin, P.G. She served as Branch Manager for the Daytona Beach office of SEI Environmental, Inc. for the last five years. Ms. Summerlin has over 14 years experience in the environmental marketplace dealing with insurance companies, private clients and the public sector including city and county municipalities.

“We are fortunate to be able to bring three such experienced professionals to our Florida clients,” Chestnut said.

S&ME, headquartered in Raleigh, NC, employs 700 professional and support staff in 20 offices in Florida, the Carolinas, Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee.
