Award-winning S&ME opens engineering office in Nashville

Nashville, TN – A nationally ranked engineering firm has announced the opening of a consulting office in Nashville.

S&ME, Inc. has already completed numerous projects in the Nashville area, working from its Knoxville branch. Michael Stomer, S&ME’s Knoxville branch manager, called Nashville a natural site for the company’s expansion. “We’ve already served several clients in the Nashville area,” Stomer said, “so our experience in the region is mounting, and we believe we’ll find many opportunities in this exciting growth area.”

S&ME employs about 700 professionals and support staff in Tennessee, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Florida. The Nashville office will be its 20th. S&ME was founded in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1973 and has operated in Tennessee (Tri-Cities, as well as Knoxville and Chattanooga) for 32 years.

The office will be managed by John Agee, P.E., who has been a senior geotechnical project manager for the Knoxville office. Agee has 15 years of engineering experience, the last eight with S&ME. His experience includes numerous projects involving industrial, commercial, institutional and government facilities, including roadways, building construction and expansions, landfills, airports and more. He holds a B.S. degree in civil engineering from Tennessee Technological University.

The Nashville office will initially offer geotechnical engineering and construction materials engineering and testing. The firm also provides drilling, environmental and natural resources services plus occupational health and safety services. S&ME is listed in the Top 100 “Pure Design” firms by Engineering News-Record magazine. Within the last decade it has won more than 50 Engineering Excellence Awards, several in Tennessee, awarded by state chapters of the American Council of Engineering Companies.
