S&ME-Asheville names new manager

Asheville, NC – Andrew M. Burton has been named manager of the Asheville branch of S&ME, Inc. 

S&ME, an engineering and environmental services firm, has operated its Asheville office since 1981. Burton joined S&ME’s Spartanburg, South Carolina branch as a project manager in 2003. He is a registered professional engineer and has had eight years of experience in geotechnical engineering, foundation construction testing and inspection, vibration monitoring, multiple phases of construction services and environmental site assessments.
 
He has served as project manager on numerous projects for manufacturing, distribution center, school and commercial facilities. Burton’s B.S. degree in civil engineering is from Clemson University. Burton is a member of the American Society of Professional Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers.
 
Also joining S&ME’s Asheville staff as a senior geotechnical engineer is Alan L. Little. He is a registered professional engineer, with 26 years of experience ranging from detailed technical engineering to managing large projects with extensive staff. Little holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in civil engineering from the University of Kentucky.
 
As manager, Burton succeeds Daniel Boles, who managed S&ME-Asheville since 2001. Boles has been named manager of the firm’s Tri-Cities Branch, located in Blountville, Tennessee. 
 
S&ME was founded in Raleigh in 1973. It employs 650 in 19 offices in North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama and Florida. In the last three years, the Asheville branch has won three Engineering Excellence Awards from the North Carolina chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies.
