S&ME opens Mooresville office; adds soil science staff

Charlotte, NC – The Charlotte branch of S&ME, Inc., a nationally ranked consulting engineering company, has announced the opening of a satellite office in Mooresville.
 
S&ME-Charlotte Manager Brad McLester said the office will enhance S&ME’s provision of services in the growing northern suburbs of the Charlotte area.
 
Included in the new office is the staff of the former Toney Jacobs and Associates, which will provide the soil sciences capabilities recently acquired by S&ME-Charlotte.
 
“The Mooresville office will provide geotechnical engineering, construction materials engineering and testing, and soil science services,” McLester said. “It will also act as a link to the environmental and occupational health and safety services offered by the Charlotte branch.”
 
Managing the satellite office is Christopher J. Brown. Brown has five years of geotechnical and construction materials experience. His B.S. in civil engineering is from West Virginia University Institute of Technology. 
 
The former Jacobs and Associates staff increases the scope of services available from S&ME in the Charlotte area. That staff, headed by Toney C. Jacobs, has specialized in septic systems, consulting primarily for residential developers in the Cawtaba River Basin. Jacobs began operating from Mooresville in 1986.
 
The S&ME-Charlotte Branch was opened in 1982 and has served thousands of area projects including Bank of America Stadium, the Charlotte Area Transit System’s commuter rail projects, uptown office towers, and commercial, manufacturing, government, health care and many more facilities. The firm, with 650 employees in six Southeastern states, is headquartered in Raleigh and was founded in 1973.
