S&ME appoints environmental department manager
For immediate release

Columbia, SC – Tom Behnke, a professional geologist, has been named environmental department manager of the Columbia branch of S&ME, Inc.

Behnke was also named senior hydrogeologist and geologist for the branch. S&ME is an award-winning engineering, environmental and construction materials testing firm with 700 employees in 20 branches in the Southeast. It was founded in Raleigh, NC in 1973.

Behnke joins S&ME with 15 years of previous professional experience in environmental work in the Columbia area. Behnke managed numerous projects involving environmental site assessments; underground storage tank closures; remedial design for contaminated soil and ground water; asbestos, mold and air quality investigations and remediation and much more.

Behnke holds a B.A. degree in geology from College of Charleston.

S&ME-Columbia manager Marty Baltzeger said Behnke will prove a major asset for S&MEs clients, "Tom's experience will help us continue to provide practical and cost effective environmental solutions to the Columbia region." S&ME has completed numerous projects in the area, including environmental assessments for commercial, government, and industrial facilities throughout the Midlands.
