S&ME again among nation's top engineering companies

Raleigh, NC – Raleigh-based engineering firm S&ME, Inc. has again been recognized as one of the nation’s Top 100 Pure Design firms, according to rankings recently released by a national publication.

The rankings, based on the 2004 revenues of civil engineering firms that do not provide construction, are compiled from an annual survey conducted by Engineering News-Record (ENR) magazine. S&ME revenues placed the company at 91st among the top firms, to make it the firm’s tenth straight year on the list.

In 2005’s ENR Top 500 survey (which includes engineering firms who do provide construction, S&ME was ranked 136th .

S&ME was founded in Raleigh in 1973 and now employs over 600 professionals and support staff in 18 cities in the Carolinas, Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee. North Carolina offices are in Raleigh, Asheville, Charlotte, Fayetteville, Greensboro and Wilmington.

In the past decade, S&ME has won approximately 50 Engineering Excellence Awards in state competitions sponsored by the American Council of Engineering Companies. The firm specializes in geotechnical engineering, construction materials engineering and testing, environmental services and occupational health and safety. Projects have included major airports, bridges, highways, dams, military installations, a variety of commercial facilities and an NFL stadium.
